Resistance captures strategically vital Salang Pass
Updated: Sep 24, 2021
Salang Pass, on the border of Parwan and Baghlan Provinces, has been seized by the Northern Alliance. This is the foremost mountain pass connecting Northern Afghanistan with provinces to its south, and its capture significantly disrupts Taliban supply lines. Over one thousand Taliban troops are estimated to be cut off in the vicinity of Panjshir. A Taliban counter-attack is anticipated, but even if forced back, resistance fighters can destroy the pass to substantially hamper pursuit and protect a major approach to Panjshir.
